Hello,

I got Lakeside Kaleidoscope in 2001 and have it planted in a spot that might get an hour of direct sun. For the first three years in particular, I found the foliage to be attractive and interesting. That has been true for the last two years also but the the plant has started to lose its edges by the end of June and became quite ragged by the end of last season. Its measurements in the four years beginning in 2002 were 7x16, 7x22, 12x31, and 10x26. It's registration size, as listed in Lemke's Database, is 8x15. The plant needs slug protection.

Kaleidoscope Goggles

Hello,

Just thought I'd share another goggles project. I hope I'm posting this in the right place, but they are glowy so here goes! I have 2 sons and one on the way and I gotta get the education into tech done early. So, I just had to make a set of Kaleidoscope Goggles as part of his Halloween costume. I'm also a high school calculus teacher who is pushing hard to bring STEAM education to my school as well so I wore them myself all day Halloween and spent most of the day showing them off to people that wanted to know where I "bought" them. We don't buy at my end of the building, we MAKE! I haven't modified them much other than the fact that I put the trinket on the outside so it can be shown off. It's the first of many projects in the works I hope for this family and in my classroom.

Hello,

We never saw the horizon be?cause of the intense air pollution, and we wore breathing masks much of the time in an effort to protect ourselves from the worst of it. Rivers were foul with animal waste, algae blooms and plastic trash, and presumably unseen pollutants and contaminants, as well. We could not drink the local water without treating it, and many in our trip drank only bottled water, adding to the already heavy load of waste blowing around the landscape � solid waste disposal was nonexistent. My purpose in this piece is not to �trash� (pun intended) India, which is a proud and powerful country with a young, dynamic, creative population, but to? wonder where environmental protection comes in as a country develops. What is the good of economic development if increased population and economic activity lead to deteriorated living conditions and probably many early deaths because of asthma and other lung conditions, waterborne illnesses, and contaminated food?

Any help will be apprecited.

Mention Health Issues in SOP?

Hello,

Honestly, i've dealt with different health issues almost half of my undergrad years, which made studying very difficult a lot of times but didn't affect my performance. But the worst happen after finishing my MS in EE, right after my last semester, I had some serious health issues which have just now resolved and during those years I did nothing : no research, no jobs, no applications, no volunteer work, NOTHING but focus on getting better. Will that be worth mentioning in my application? Im not gonna mention being plagued by health issues during my studies but what worries me is the "long spring break" I took from 2012-2016 after graduating(there was a year gap between finishing all my classes and me applying for graduation because I was too sick to care about it). Will it make a difference if I mention it? I really don't want to but if I have to do it to increase my chances I will.

Any help will be apprecited.

Hello,

This topic about racial terms got me to thinking about what I would be "officially" classified as (besides the hum-drum, caucasion that America seems to love so much), and what ethnic culture I actually identify with. I figured, why not see what we've all grown up with. I'll start. Officially, I guess I would be German-American for the most part, as there is more German in my full-blown mutt heritage than anything else. However, I really know nothing of any German heritage, nor have I ever bothered to research it. I've just never been interested. Really though, I am a fish-belly white "wannabe hispanic". I grew up in Tucson, and most of my friends were either truly Mexican (i.e. born in Mexico) or first-generation Mexican-Americans whose parents where from Mexico. As a child I thought everybody celebrated Cinco de Mayo, and had Tamale sales at school for fund-raisers. What about you?Do you identify more with the country where your family is from, or the people you grew up around? Why?

Hello,

I thought I'd thank Hugh personally and publicly for his excellent review of the ART SplitMix 4. Short and to the point, I particularly noted his comment that passive devices such as headphones would not work in the output jacks due to loss of level. I'd love to show this to the guy at my local shop who when I enquired about splitting my headphone output into 4 headphones, tried to sell me the SplitMix. By the sounds of this review, I did the right thing by politely refusing to take his advice.

Quick album art scrolling

Hello,

This is an issue with a number of windows apps that deal with thumbnails: when you scroll through lists of them, it takes a while to refresh the new thumbnails as they come into view. This is an issue in Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer also, for example. In MM, if you view your albums in the main screen with the "Album Art" view, and scroll through them, the album art is slow to pop up as albums come into view. While some apps have this problem, others have somehow managed to resolve it. Picasa comes to mind as one example - as you scroll through the thumbnails, there's no noticeable lag as thumbnails come into view. I don't know what the technical resolution would be - some sort of enhanced caching? Not sure. But this feature would make it much more enjoyable traversing one's library. Anyone agree? Disagree? Have a different perspective?
